I just added a 2.0 USB & firewire combo card to my PC. Am I missing something? I slipped into an open PCI slot and when I checked to see if it was reconized...it wasn't. Am I suppose to connect any wires? It didn't say in the directions that came with the new card. Thanks for any help you can give me. Maddie

Should not need to connect any wires. Be sure the card is pushed firmly down into the slot. Try another slot as well

Thank you for your response. I called the tech of the maker of the 2.0/firewire card and they said the same thing. They had me change slots and now the new one works and the old one doesn't. hmmmmm i wonder if it's the slot that has something wrong with it?

Not necessarily - some laptop slots are specialised. For instance, I know that certain laptops will only run a network card in the bottom slot. If you check your user guide for the laptop, it should tell you.
