Hello...
I saw the following lcd monitor from sony at a local shop and I liked the image quality and generals looks of the monitor very much! What can you tell me about this monitor? How is it for hardcore gaming?

Thank You.
Best regards

You would probably see a small amount of ghosting while gaming, but I love the "look" of the monitor and thought about purchasing one myself.
I do think that the Samsung 172T would probably be a better gaming LCD.
Of course...CRTs still dominate in the gamer's market.

Agreed in the LCD market.
If you are a die hard gamer then look no further than the NEC 1760NX. It is a 16ms LCD so there will be no ghosting. This is the one I intend on purchasing in the very near future and will post a review.

I have the NEC 1760NX LCD monitor and use it for gaming a lot!! Have no noticed any ghosting whatsoever. Image quality is substantially better than CRT and especially for games.
Anybody who thinks CRT is better than LCD IS ON CRACK!!!!!
Who needs those heavy no good looking CRTs when you can have a NEC 1760NX lcd monitor that is slim in desing, lightweight, no ghosting in games, better image quality than a CRT.
ONE GOD DAMN LAST TIME, LCDs ARE BETTER THAN CRT monitors depending on which LCD you get. I'm never ever going to back to the old analog, heavyweight, space hogger CRTs.

i rather have "Good Design-looking - Poor Performance" LCD than those "Ugly Looking - Good Peroformance" CRT .... but the FACT is not only nowadays LCDs are "Good Looking" but their "Performance" are close/equal to CRT... so i don't even have think... LCD is my choice.... only if i got that much $$$

I got a Sony LCD from a friend who just upgraded to their 21" model. I believe this one is the SDM-HS73 model. I'll say this about it. First off, I like the design of it. Doesn't look as ugly as the Samsung 172. I hate the whole base design of it. I think it sticks out too much, and I don't have unlimited space. I play CS, U2, BF, and UT2003 and have no problems whatsoever with ghosting or motion blur. I've very happy with it, and I got the 3 year warrenty from Bestbuy, and the monitor for $300.
Very happy.
Later, Oz
