i think this competition would be good, for consumers, maybe we could have ti 4800 level integrated graphics when the top cards are still only one or two steps up like radeon 9700 and 9800 or nvidia 5900

The 9100 is not a high-end graphics chipset, on the mobile side it'll probably be entry-mid level at best, what is more interesting is the mobile 9600P, I think that would be a better IGP, who knows maybe they're going to do something along those lines, that would be a great IGP IMO, much better than NVidia current IGP, would be better than NVidia even if NVidia went with a FX5600 as an IGP

I believe the 9100 IGP is really based on the 9200

1- Indeed, the 9100 is extremely entry level. It gets the same general fps in an amd800mhz 128mb pc133 running 4x as my ti4200 running at 1x agp with p3-1ghz and 512mb pc133. 2- It'd be pretty much impossible to use the fx's integrated considering their heat output. 3- I think the 9100 came before the 9200, just have a vague memory of it being on priceline before the 9200's came out. Not sure though.

I don't know for sure about integrated chipsets, but the 9200=9000+AGP 8x support. 9100=8500LE rebadged. The main difference between a 9000 and 9100 is the fact that the 9100 has 2 pipelines, whereas the 9000 np has but a single one, but is supposedly capable of doing twice the work, therefore should be near the same performance (although real world a 9100 will spank a 9000 or 9200 at the same speeds).

The 9100 IGP is an AGP 8x chipset with only 2 rendering pipelines instead of 4. The 9100 in AGP form is totally different, and has a 4x2 architecture and is a rebadged 8500LE. The 9100IGP however has a 350Mhz clock.
Not by any means a great chipset but the best integrated video I have seen
