ZALMAN Z80A-HP/Z80C-HP.. MAX RAMSINK HEIGHT?
can anyone confirm to me what the max height a ramsink can be in order to be WITHOUT conflict with the vga heatpipe for a ati 9800 pro? i dont wanna buy ramsinks, put them on, then find out that the zalman heatpipe dont work.. i am aware that the z80d-hp just came out and it comes with ramsinks but i am not interested in paying big bucks.. i already emailed zalman about this but no response
would appreciate some help!

I use the A version, with an older Ti series Nvidia card.
Are RAM sinks absolutely necessary for your ATI?
If not, the Zalman should work fine.

Hi: you need Ramsinks that are this size for the ZM80A & ZM80C and D
Their website says Fully optimized for Zalman's ZM80 series VGA Coolers
Frontside Dimensions 13(L) x 13(W) x 13(H) mm
Backside Dimensions 13(L) x 13(W) x 6(H) mm
I have made my own, the Radeon cards have a ramchip that is 11mm x 11mm square
So you can use smaller ramsinks than 13mm square... just make sure the backside is only 6mm high, you may get away with a 7mm high backside sink...but check before you glue them on if your useing Thermal Adhesive. Zalman has these sinks on their website under ZM-RHS1
Hope that helps...

Also if your gonna overclock you card, Ramsinks sure would help...if not the O/C then the ram itself, Heres a Thermal Image of a 9700 Pro not Oced ,and the ram is pretty hot. Card is at the bottom of the page.
