Well, this is kind of embarrassing that I would even have to post this, because I consider myself more than capable of figuring out a problem such as this. But im getting frustrated trying to figure it out myself, so I am asking you guys to give me a hand. For christmas my parents gave me $200 towards my new opteron 165 as my "big gift" and by myself, i bought an asus SLI-Deluxe (OEM), 7800GTX - BFG, Saitek Eclipse keyboard, Thermaltake Tsunami case (black), OCZ powerstream 520W. Well i havent got the keyboard or the PSU yet, but I have the rest and I put it all together today. Everything except the video card and the proc were tested to be working. Now when I boot my system, nothing is shown on the monitor. So I figured its one of four things. 1) Ram is in wrong slot 2) CMOS needs to be reset 3) Video card is DOA 4) Proc is doa. Well, Ive tryed the ram in different slots with no success. Ive tryed using a PCI vid card that I know works, no success. So that leaves CMOS and proc. Well I currently have no other rig to test the proc on, as I've sold mine long ago to pay for parts of this one. So im kind of down to the CMOS. Ive cleared the CMOS on my motherboard, as well as other peoples mobo's I would say at least 1000 times. Well im not sure where the CMOS is on this asus board, as I have no directions and there are like 4 different jumpers that look the same. So that is still in the air, the last thing would be proccessor. Any ideas? I get no beeps when I turn the system on, as I have no speaker on this particular case. So that kind of rules out the troubleshooting using the post signals.

asus SLI-Deluxe (OEM)

An oem mobo? I've never heard of such a thing. Or is that a refurb?

Obviously you've got an internet connection, so just go to the Asus website and download the pdf for that mobo so you can figure what is what. Personally, I wouldn't touch that mobo again until I had documentation. Good luck.

Hehe it says REFURBISHED: ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - OEM on newegg hehe. I only got it because me and a friend was supposed to trade mobos, but he backed out at the last minute lol. But thanks for the suggestion. Ill look into it. Oh btw, i did look up where the CMOS jumper was, it was right where i thought it was. And.. i reset it, and still no luck.

- does your northbridge fan rotates?
- does your cpu fan rotates? is it connected? (some mobo refuse to boot otherwise)
- Is your monitor connected rightly? is it digital or analog?
- Did u install the cpu correctly?
- Do u see ANYTHING on the screen when u try to boot, like a sentence of the bios? or doesnt it do anything?

personally i think your board is dead.

when you have a Dead cpu usually the motherboard will make a beeping sound. take out the cpu and see if it does. you have to have the case's speaker attached.

Thats the thing, my new case the Thermaltake Tsunami Case doesnt have a speaker.

For omega: Yes / Im on watercooling so no / Yes my monitor is connected correctly, its analog and ive tryed it in 3 different DVI slots (with connector) and one VGA slot - this was on 2 video cards / Yes I installed CPU correctly, ive installed them incorrectly before and had to take them back out, so I checked on that and sure enough it was in there correctly. / I see NOTHING on screen, the little light on the monitor even stays on standby - orange.

I appreciate the help alot guys

What is it with these new motherboards that don't have speakers! I got an Antec Super LANBoy that didn't have one. Had to go through the spare parts box to find one. Maybe you can raid an old PC for the speaker?

This is benefit14snake at a friends house. Well the proccessoer IS working, as I am typing this at 2.7ghz X 2 hehe. So now to see what is not allowing me to boot...... Im thinking a bios update, but since I dont have another proc, i cant update it. Either that, or its the ram I think.

If u installed your cpu wrongly on that mobo its possible that u damaged the mobo when u tried to boot up........

ps: Does the fan of your PSU rotates?

Yes, everything works fine like a normal cold boot, BUT theres no display. What is extremely confusing is this: I put the proc in a friends mobo, it starts up fine, actualy I forgot to reset the CMOS and it booted up for the first time at 2.4ghz lol. Then I take it to my house put it in, it boots fine. So normaly I would think, ok I put the proc in wrong, but... I remounted the proccessor atleast 3-4 times, and this isnt the first time ive put in a proccessor, so i DO know what Im doing. The whole thing seems really odd to me, but its working so im not going to question it.

getting a speaker is going to tell you exactly what is wrong from the beep code.

find one before making further assumptions. raid said friend's speaker from his case. raid an alarm clock. find SOMETHING.

My guess is the board or bios. I've had it happen twice, computer just does nothing. I would buy a new board, if there is no change then work from there.
