Hey guys,
I'm looking at building a new system and am not sure what to go with. Semperon 3300+ or Athlon 3000+ both are within a few dollars of each other in price. The Athlon gets me into a socket 939 though, but the semperon is apparently a better over clocker and will outperform the 3000+. Is it enough of a difference to warrant buying a Socket 754 board though?

I would go with the Athlon 64 3000+ hands down. You'll also have an upgrade path sith Socket 939. Socket 754 is essentially dead except for value CPUs. And don't think you can't overclock that 3000+ either!!!

sorry, but the only thing a sempron will beat an athlon64 in is integer benchmarking, and that's only if the clock speed is higher. Anything that makes use of cache will favor the athlon64. The athlon has anywhere from 2-8x the L2 cache.
