Okay guys, you can see my present system under "My System". As the title says I want to upgrade but to what??
I'm getting the CM Stacker 830 and the huge PC Power & Cooling Power Supply, it will be air cooled, but in looking at the available AMD CPU's, I'm hard pressed to see or understand anything better than what I have.
The system will not be overclocked!! I'll be using the Thermalright HR-01 passive cooler with at least six Akasa 120 mm Amber Series quiet fans.
What do you all suggest??

opteron 165,170, or 175 with the mainboard of your flavor!
there is so much frequency head room in these chips, even at stock voltage, its easy to overclock!
the opty165 will do 2.2ghz very easily..... and right now i am at 2.4ghz on my 165 with the stock cooler.... and it will run at 2.6 (or above) with some better cooling.
just my .02!
good luck on your choice bro!

indeed, if u can get your hands on one, otherwise an x2 (4400+ sounds great prestige/cost)
But if i were u , I wouldnt upgrade UNLESS u really do a lot of multitasking, for gaming u have a great rig.

I don't game, well not seriously anyway and with what I have there is no real need to overclock.
The reason I asked the question, was with what I have, is there anything out there worth upgrading too?? Or should I wait for the new AMD socket motherboards??

If you don't game, then why are you looking to upgrade? What you have is pretty close to the current top spec. Not worth the expense IMO.

I do allot of testing of cooling products and cases for mfg. and it helps if I have top of the line or close too, top of the line.
My problem is, that when I look at the latest offerings, nothing seems to stand out as better than what I have, at least not significantly, or to the point of impacting test results.
That's why I asked you guys, and so far, that's what you all are telling me.

Dual core is not great gaming system. Only new games work well but there's a lot issues on older games -at least you must set affinity right.
Your system is simply one of the best I have seen-I have x2/4400 system and not faster than yours. Do not upgrade!
