I have got 3 PCs are accessing the internet through the LinkSys ADSL Router WAG54G, These PCs are in different places, two of them (Laptops,,,La and Lb) accessing the router wireless and the third one (Desktop,,,D1) wired.
These PCs are in different places in an office.
What should I do if I want to control the download of these PCs,,,(i.e. they can't download at any time the like to download )
Suppose I am using La and I want to stop D1 form downloading because he slows down the net,,, What should I do ?
Note: I just want to disable the ability of a download,,,,I have got no problem if he want to browse.

Browsing uses downloading, also is used for various activities on the LAN.
Is this for a home enviroment or a business enviroment, and how reasonable are the other users?

You should check WAG54G manual or take a look at that router's web admin interface to see if it supports QoS or in simple words traffic bandwidth management. If not, I am afraid you won't be able to do that unless you find some 3rd party firmware that does support QoS for your router.
Other options are getting QoS capable router or setting up linux PC router which does support many traffic management features.

another option would be along the lines of net-nanny or cyber-sitter i think theyre called. any type of "parental controls" software will accomplish what you want. i know with norton(2005) parental controls you can completely shut down internet or only block certain types of activity. few clicks and a password and full access is restored.
if you can do it thru the router that would of course be the better (and cheaper) option.
