Okay here's the deal, I am an avid after effects user and rendering clips while at the same time doing other stuff is almost impossible with a singlecore processor So am looking at buying a dualcore CPU for my setup but am still left in the lurch as to which one to get.
I am looking at a choice of two,
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Manchester (S939, 2,0GHz, 2x512KB, Boxed) € 333,-
or
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Manchester (S939, 2,2GHz, 2x512KB, Boxed) € 417,85,-
Now looking at the stuff I have in my signature you can see that I really don't wanna travel back in time, so am looking to get atleast 2.7Ghz from my Manchester. Now question is, will the lower clocked 3800+ X2 be able to get there. If it does then it surely is the smarter option. You can see in my signature that I have very good cooling, so lemme know what you think 'k?
thnx

have you considered an opteron 165/170/175/180? They have 1MB L2 per core and tend to be good overclockers.

Nope never actually considered one of those, let alone that I knew they would fit on my DFI board Will look into it, thnx!
EDIT : looking at the prices of opteron's here,
AMD Opteron 165 Dual Core (S940, 1,8GHz, 2x1MB, Boxed) € 337 AMD Opteron 170 Dual Core (S939, 2,0GHz, 2MB, Boxed) € 395,67 AMD Opteron 175 Dual Core (S939, 2,2GHz, 2MB, Boxed) € 506,16
AMD Opteron 180 Dual Core (S939, 2,4 GHz, 2MB, Boxed) € 836,59
all I can say is, damn pricey € 337.00 = $ 408.829

3800 X2 or opt 165 is all you need. Both OC well and will do 2.6+ with ease.
