I replayed F.E.A.R. all the way through during the xmas break on my new 42" Samsung Plasma and it played fine on the HTPC box I built out of old bits I had laying around...
AMD Athlon XP2500+ Barton (stock) Epox mATX AGP board 512MB Corsair XMS2700LL PT rev 1.1 (CL2-2-2-6 T1) X800GT 256MB AGP 475/490 (Stock) 250GB Seagate Sata 7200.8
I had to force the resolution to get it in the right widescreen ratio but managed to apply 4x AA without too much of a fps loss...
Yeah, I'd have to agree the problem is most likely your drivers

Dose any one know of a XP-M 2500+ running Fear?
Maybe I am the 100st to say this (as I didn't take the time to read all of the posts). But CPU power says nothing about 3D power. If you can't play it I recommend a better GFX card. The only problem is that good AGP cards are becomming rare.
From my personal experience I can now tell that all the stories about A64 being so much faster for games are Greatly exaggerated. My 3500+ does not run (stable) faster then my overclocked 2600+ (but watercooled). Maybe when my watercooling moves to the A64 this changes.

I've long suspected this and hence never made the move to A64 processors and why I still build system from XP-M's
They can move controllers, increase cache and external bandwidths but I'm not buying until they crack the frequency "wall" they seemed to have hit over the past 2 years...

I only played the demo, but it seemed to work perfect at whatever the demo's highest settings were.
All I got is an XP-2200+ (b) and a 9700Pro

I'm not even sure if the original poster hung around to read all the responses - he last posted on this thread on 1st January!
