To be fair, part of my excitement about fast loads is that I've gone from XP Home which has had almost a year of stuff being added to the registry, added services to start (even tho I try to remove services I don't need anymore), and other startup executions to a clean install of WIN 64. Hell, this system's only 2 weeks old and I just finally found a 64-bit compatible virus scanner this morning. (Symantec and Network Associates don't have one for home use). I also added a SATA 150 HDD which is faster than my other two drives.

Even so, after POST, when I hit enter to load the selected 64 bit OS, I'm on the desktop with drive activity stopped at 12 sec.....fastest I've ever seen (even tho there are probably some quicker systems out there). Not sure once I get all my apps debugged for 64 bits and installed how that's going to impact it, but even IE seems much faster on loads and busy web pages than before (disk to desktop and JAVA executions I'm guessing)

Oddly, temps in the two cores vary and are not always equal. (assuming I'm looking at the right locations). Nor is one always warmer than the other.....they vary. I've been tracking processor utilization in Task Manager while tracking temps and they seem to match. Temps seem to depend on which core is working on which task. Core temps are varying between 35C and 42C, but I don't have a full load/extended time observation yet.

So much for what I think I'm seeing so far.

Has anybody else noticed that this guy started this thread a week ago and has not come back?
